Listing the properties of the touchpad shows that the property 268 is used for speed. xinput list-props 12 Device 'SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad': Device Enabled (141): 1 Coordinate Transformation Matrix (143): 1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000 Device Accel Profile (267): 1 Device Accel Constant Deceleration (268): 2.500000 The touchpad has a current speed value of 2.5. If we want to make the mouse move more sluggish we need to set a high value like 10.0. If we want a very fast mouse we need to set the value to something like 1.0.
